Anchorsholme Park

Anchorsholme Bowling and Social Club is in the northern area of Blackpool in the newly re-opened Anchorsholme Park, Thornton Cleveleys.
Established in 1967 it provides excellent crown green bowling and social facilities for its members.
After the old clubhouse was demolished during park reconstruction the present clubhouse was built by United Utilities and opened for use in November 2017.
The park has undergone a huge amount of work that has resulted in superb facilities for locals and visitors alike. As well as tennis, football and basketball courts there is a superb play area for young children and the excellent Brew cafe where good inexpensive food and drink can be purchased.
A small local group called Friends of the Park regularly meet to help maintain the grounds, including litter picking to keep the park looking good.
The first photograph shows the park under re-construction, and shows how much work was being undertaken.
The second photograph shows the park in its finished state.
The bowling club, unfortunately, had to lose one of its greens to allow the new clubhouse to be built. This can be seen by comparing the photos. The small area of green, that can be seen just to the right of the club building, is being used for the Anchorsholme Bowling Academy.
In the third photograph is the new clubhouse, which the members are rightly very proud of.
Crown Green Bowling is a sport for all. Anchorsholme Bowling Club, with two Level One Coaches welcomes new members.
Free taster sessions are available for those that have never played before.
